Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers.

We know good coffee comes with good questions — and we’re here for all of them. Whether you’re wondering how to brew it best, where it comes from, or what happens if it’s not your thing (spoiler: we’ve got your back), you’ll find the answers below. If there’s anything we missed, don’t hesitate to reach out — we’re real people who love talking coffee.

☕ Product & Quality

Is your coffee mold-free?

Yes — our coffee is specialty-grade and carefully processed to meet high quality standards. It’s roasted fresh and stored properly to ensure a clean, mold-free cup.

Is your coffee organic?

While our farming practices are natural and sustainable, we are not certified organic — yet. We focus on caring for the land, planting trees, and growing in a way that respects both nature and people.

Do you offer dark or medium roasts?

Currently, our coffee is roasted to a balanced light roast, which brings out the best flavors of the beans. In the future, as we bring on new farmers, we’ll offer different roast levels on the website — something we’re really excited about! Stay tuned. Until then, you can try the light roast by adjusting your brew ratio and adding more coffee for a stronger flavor.

What grind size should I order?

Here’s a quick guide based on how you brew:

  • Whole Bean – best for freshness (grind just before brewing)

  • Coarse – for French press or cold brew

  • Medium – for drip machines or pour-over

  • Fine – for espresso or moka pot

What’s the best ratio for brewing the coffee?

We recommend a 1:16 ratio — about 1g of coffee for every 16g/ml of water. For a standard 12oz cup, that’s 20g of coffee to 320g of water.

How should I store my coffee?

Keep it sealed tight in a cool, dry place — no fridge or freezer needed. For the freshest flavour, use within 4–6 weeks of opening.

📦 Orders & Shipping

How long does the coffee take to arrive?

We roast 2–3 days after your order and ship within 1–2 business days after roasting. U.S. orders typically arrive within 5–8 business days. You’ll get tracking as soon as it ships.

Do you ship internationally?

At the moment, we only ship within the U.S. — but we’re exploring options for international shipping soon!

Do you offer subscriptions or auto-ship?

Yes! We offer a subscription plan that gives you 5% off every order. It’s a simple way to stay stocked on fresh coffee without having to think about it. You can manage or cancel anytime. Not ready to subscribe? You can always reorder manually — we make it easy.

Can I gift Emense Coffee?

Absolutely! Coffee makes a great gift. Just enter your recipient’s shipping info at checkout. Gifting options and bundles are coming soon.

🌱 Origin & Sourcing

Who grows your coffee?

Right now, all of our coffee comes from our family farm in Nicaragua. As we grow, we’ll bring on more small producers who share our values and want to tell their stories too.

Where is your coffee roasted?

Our coffee is roasted fresh to order in the U.S., using beans from our family farm in Nicaragua. This helps us keep quality high and delivery fast.

Do you sell green coffee?

Not yet — we’re focused on roasted coffee right now, which allows us to grow steadily and sustainably.

🙋 Other Questions

What if I don’t like the coffee?

No stress, no hard feelings. If your first bag isn’t what you hoped for, we’ll refund it. We stand behind every roast.

Can I visit you or your farm in Nicaragua?

As of now, we don’t have an official visitor program in place — but it’s part of our dream for the future. One day, we hope to open up the farm for tours and experiences. In the meantime, feel free to email us. Depending on our workload and availability, we might be able to make something work.
